Compass is a three-day introductory course in basic conflict management and communication skills. Participants in the Compass Program have the opportunity to exchange stories and experiences about the conflicts they face, and to learn to resolve conflict in a way that best meets their needs. They build on their communication skills, examine their own approach to conflict and conflict resolution, and practice negotiating around the issues that affect them most.
Compass is a skill development experience aimed at increasing individual ability to self-advocate, communicate needs and problem solve. The workshop series is delivered in a format similar to that of a regular work day in order to provide participants with a "nine to five" type environment. As such, priority is given to people on Income Assistance, Employment Insurance or with low incomes.
Compass is also a suitable option for those with court ordered or ministry mandated anger management training.
This program is generously funded by the Provincial Employees Community Services Fund and Playtime Bingo Victoria.
